A few words about my background

Ali al-Azzawi

After graduating in physics at Hull University in 1989, I went to work at Oxford University as a research assistant and then to Dartmouth College (NH, USA), before coming back to Surrey (UK) to work for a company specialising in development, manufacture and installation of MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) equipment. This job took me literally around the world. I had significant experience in development, servicing, installation, project management and as an Application Scientist.

1999 saw the opportunity for me to start my own company, which started as a consultancy and has evolved into a successful international Internet services and development company, Openia. This company specialises in using open source technologies to deliver high quality applications such as the Plone Content Management Systems (CMS).

Coaching and NLP came into my life in 2003, where I attended many training courses, and eventually qualified as an NLP-Coach, and trainer. I have been weaving and applying what I have learned into all areas of my life; personal, family, work, sport etc. In order to follow my passion for understanding people and working with them, I started a Ph.D. project in late 2005 at the Digital World Research Centre and the Psychology Department at Surrey University. The project was focused on how people experience technology and how their experience changes over time. This drew very well on most of the areas of experience and education that I have had so far, and I completed my studies in early 2010.

I am now attempting to consolidate my experience of technology, psychology and business, by creating innovative applications of basic science.
